Do heat pumps work in Florida heat?
They are air conditioners in summer, full stop, and modern units handle Florida heat as well as any straight-cool system. The bonus is the winter mode you get with the same equipment.
Are heat pumps cheaper to run than heat strips?
Dramatically, often two to three times less electricity for the same heat. Strips are resistance heaters; heat pumps move heat instead of manufacturing it. Over a Florida winter the difference is real money.
How long does a heat pump last here?
Ten to fifteen years with maintenance, less without it. Coastal salt air shortens the range, which is one reason twice-a-year care matters more near the water.
My heat pump runs but the house will not warm up. Why?
Could be a reversing valve fault, low charge, a defrost problem, or auxiliary heat failing to stage. It is a systematic diagnosis, and it is exactly the work we do all winter.
Should I replace my AC with a heat pump?
If your AC is near the end of its life and you heat with strips, usually yes, one changeout upgrades both jobs. If your AC is young, usually no. You will get the honest version for your house, not a pitch.
