It is probably the ducts
The equipment gets blamed, but airflow problems live in the duct system more often than not: a long run starved by undersized duct, a crushed flex line in the attic, a missing return that leaves the room pressurized, or supply air arriving pre-heated after a trip through a hundred-thirty degree attic. Static pressure and airflow measurements at each register tell the story room by room.
Sometimes it is the room
West-facing glass, thin insulation over a garage, and afternoon sun loads can outrun a duct that was sized for an average bedroom. That is a building problem wearing an HVAC costume, and the honest fix might be shading, insulation or a dedicated solution like a small ductless unit rather than surgery on the ductwork.
What not to do
Do not close vents around the house to force air to the hot room; it raises static pressure and hurts the whole system. Do not crank the thermostat lower; the rest of the house pays and the hot room barely moves. And be careful with a bigger system as the cure: if the ducts are the bottleneck, more tonnage pushes against the same choke point and adds new problems.
Measured properly, most hot rooms have a specific, fixable cause, and the fix is often smaller than people fear. The starting point is measurement, not equipment.
